Now that he's entered the Republican presidential race, Texas Governor Rick Perry is a big target for Democrats and for his GOP rivals. Here are five avenues of attack that his critics will use against him:
1. Perry's economic record. Perry says he is the best job creator in the race and that low-tax, low-regulation Texas created about 40 percent of all the new jobs generated in the United States over the past two years (even though Texas has only 10 percent of the U.S. population). His critics challenge that. Their line of attack is that Texas has benefited from the federal government's expansion of the military and also from the expansion of the oil industry, which was due to international and national factors, not Perry's policies.
